This is your brain on Supernatural

SPN - Dean looking sideways
Hello everyone!

It's been such a long time since I posted here. I promise, I'm still alive! While I'm still watching numerous TV shows, I haven't really gotten into the fandom of any one of them. I will, however post about the TV shows… sometime soonish.

In the meantime, I've recently published a humorous book called The Cat's Guide to Human Behavior. It's a self-help guide for cats about how to deal with annoying human problems. I'm looking for some honest reviews, so I'd like to offer 10 copies free to anyone who will commit to providing me with an honest review posted to Amazon.com. If you're interested comment here, or send me an email at xuwriter@yahoo.com and I'll send you more information about it.
Hope to hear from you!

Bunch O' Stuff!
SPN - Dean looking sideways
I keep meaning to make a post but then I'm unable to for some reason or another, usually to do with hand and wrist pain. My chiropractor tells me that I must improve my posture or become a shriveled old woman sooner than nature intended. I'm trying to do so in the hopes that it will help but it is not easy. Anyhow, an update!

1. Supernatural and other tv shows. I'm still watching Supernatural although at this point it's mainly for the pretty factor. Jared, Jensen, and Misha definitely deliver on that front. I appreciate the excitement of those fans who remain, though. I'm looking at you, counteragent and raloria, especially!

I can't seem to muster any excitement for much else, though. I tried out the pilots of Sleepy Hollow, which was ridiculous but had potential for fun, and Marvel, Agents of Shield which I really enjoyed but somehow haven't followed up on. Arrow continues to open with shirtless exercising scenes, I have noted with approval, but it's just not holding my interest either. Too much to do, I suppose.

I AM digging The Walking Dead, which the hubster and I watch religiously. Michonne is SO AWESOME and Daryl is MY LOVE and Rick is sweaty and angst-ridden but acceptable. I think Rick and Michonne have some wicked good chemistry, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing him and Daryl get together. Heh.

I'm going with friends to Thor this weekend, which should be filled with eye candy and explosions, both of which I enjoy. I don't quite get all the Loki love, although Tom H. is supposed to be the most perfect gentleman ever, I hear.

2. I've set up a bunch of various Facebook pages and websites and so on lately, and I've released a silly kitty book. The cat lovers among you may find it of interest:

3. I've been blogging about travel and writing and cats over at xuwriter.wordpress.com. It's been fun but I don't know whether anyone is really reading it. I need to promote it, I suppose. I will be announcing my various book giveaways and releases there and on Facebook if you're interested: https://www.facebook.com/XinaMarieUhl and I keep meaning to get back on twitter ... it's just so time-consuming!

4. I'm participating in mini_wrimo this month and have committed to a whopping 500 words a day! So far so good, although last night I crashed too early to meet my full goal. Who all is joining me? I see some familiar names over there sometimes goneahead, lostandalone22 and ladyjanelly!

5. I've been making mosaics lately with varying degrees of success, considering that I really don't have much artistic talent. I'm proudest of this Roman inspired piece. It's ungrouted here, but the final product is similar:

6. Tell me your news, fannish or not!

Go forth and write, my children!

Guys, one of my other friends, adelheide is having a rough time of it right now. She's working but has not been able to get a lot of hours in at her job and is having a hard time paying her rent this month. She makes absolutely gorgeous handmade jewelry, you can find pictures and prices for everything here:

Please, take a look, buy some one of a kind pretties for yourself or as gifts. The holidays will be here before we know it. Get some of that pesky shopping out of the way early this year and help a friend while you're at it. Pretty nifty, huh? Thanks! :)

Orphan me, baby!
SPN - Dean looking sideways
I'm completely and totally smitten by Orphan Black. It is SO enjoyable - fast-paced, well-plotted, surprising, touching, funny, well-characterized.I can't say much without spoiling you, but the main actress is PURE LOVE. She's so incredibly talented that she's mesmerizing. I'm jazzed because Orphan Black is having a panel at Nerd HQ in conjunction with Comic Con. Tix go on sale at noon tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for me! They sure go fast!

Next week I'm off on my yearly excursion to COMIC CON!! Yay!!! I look forward to it every year. So much incredible energy. This year I'll be taking my two oldest nephews, which should be a blast. One of them is completely enthralled by zombies, so he should find a lot to make him happy. :-)

In other news, we got a new dog - a sweet little terrier mix called Rudy. Here he is (the other beauty is my girl Kima). We had to put my other dog down in March, so it was past time to get Kima a buddy. Read more...Collapse )

I just watched last night's Teen Wolf.

[Spoiler (click to open)]HOLY SHIT. That was AMAZEBALLS. A completely creepy, sexy, touching episode - I think it has to be my favorite of the entire series! Although I would imagine that the Sterek shippers aren't too happy right now. I love Stiles even more (in a totally non shippery way) than ever. And I just love looking at whatever that girl's name is who plays Lydia. She's so gorgeous.

Anyhow, I'm very happy right now. The first few episodes of this season didn't do much for me but this is one I will likely watch again and again!

Tarot Readings For Sale
SPN - Dean looking sideways
posted by a_phoenixdragon HERE.

For any and all who may be interested, I'm offering Tarot readings at a price that is slightly higher than a street vendor but way less than your average 1-800 number or Tarot.com reading. This would help get me out of a bind - and maybe make you feel a touch better about the future ahead (if not help you plan better for it)!

Prices are thusly:

Average Reading (Ques., Atmosphere, Past, Present, Possible & Probable Future): $15 USD

Full Reading (Q, A, Past, Pres., Poss., Prob., 2 Hopes/Fears, Family Opin., Final Outcome): $25 USD

Traditionally my 'usual reading' is the Full Reading, but I realise not everyone will want that, so I have tailored the Reading and price accordingly. I have never charged for Tarot Readings, so this is the beginning standard from what I gather (I have quite a few friends who do readings for these prices). I would love to do readings for free (as I always have) but unfortunately, life has dictated that this may not be possible at this time. As much as I hate to charge for this, I also would hate to lose the roof over my head. If you wish to have a reading done, feel free to PM me and I will get it set up for you. We can do it via email or over the phone, whichever makes you more comfortable.

But even if you cannot do this at this time, I would really appreciate it if you would spread the word. There may be a few people out there who are interested - and I would wholly welcome their help. And look! They get something fun and (hopefully) practical in return!

Any way you can assist is appreciated, guise. And thank you (always, always) for listening!

Please re-post if you can to help out.

Dark Angel Recs!
SPN - Dean looking sideways
Alec lives on! Here are a couple of Dark Angel recs that I read/listened to lately:

(Fic) Change More Fierce by corbyinoz; Gen, Rated: M

Remember the police captain from the final two episodes of Dark Angel? corbyinoz has written a wonderful story about Alec's interaction with him here. Based on kjsvala's excellent art over here.

Summary: Ramon Clemente receives an unexpected visitor days after the events of 'Freak Nation'. His encounter with Alec will change everything he knew about his family life, his security and the nature of the 'reaks' he chased into Terminal City; but can he save Alec, as Alec saved him?

(Podfic) A Mind That Knows Itself by impertinence; read by exmanhater; Max/Alec, PG-13; Length: 17:17

exmanhater gives her typical sweet, smooth read of this lovely story. Delightful!

Summary: Post-"Berrisford Agenda". Alec's not alright, duh.
